Set Dec Assistant

I graduated from Arts University Bournemouth with First Class Honours in BA (Hons) Film Production, specialising in Production Design (2023). My time at AUB allowed me to explore various facets of the art department by production designing a diverse range of short films. I developed a particular passion for the hand-drafting phase of pre-production, as it offered creative freedom and the opportunity to incorporate distinctive architectural elements aligned with the director's vision. During production, I found that strong organisational skills—especially in set decoration—were key to ensuring the art department remained on schedule and worked efficiently.  

I recently completed my first role within an Art Department on a Netflix production, where I significantly developed my skills across model making, Photoshop, and Excel. Alongside this, I gained valuable experience in administrative support, maintaining detailed spreadsheets, and assisting with the coordination of a large, fast-paced department. I also supported the graphic department's requirements and contributed both in the studio and on location, helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations. I also frequently assisted the Standby Art Director with coordinating set preparations, maintaining continuity, and resolving on-set artistic requirements.

Beyond university and the art department, I have gained valuable on-set experience working as a Location Marshal. This has given me a broader perspective on the coordination required during filming. It sharpened my understanding of set logistics, reinforced the importance of clear communication, and deepened my respect for the collaborative effort behind every production.
